Source of the Severn (River)
County: Powys
Difficulty: Medium
Duration: Over 2 hours
Wheelchair Friendly: No
The trek to the Source of the Severn commences at the Rhyd-y-benwch car park and picnic area. As the route climbs steeply up through some very rugged and wet terrain, gaining a full 300 metres in height above the level of the car park (and a further 100m to the summit of Pen Pumlumon), it is recommended that good walking boots are worn, and a sweater and waterproof carried. The weather on Pumlumon can be changeable, so it is always a good idea to let friends know that you are tackling the walk. The photographs on this day were taken during an organised walk for the annual Festival of the Great Outdoors - most other times you will meet very few people on the trail!
